Our Story:

SuperfreakMedia is an AWARD WINNING production company based in the East Midlands (UK) established back in 2009 by filmmaker Liam Banks. Since then we have worked to create high quality and professional short films, video content and more! Throughout our journey so far we have had our creations shown on the BBC, debut at the TCL Chinese Theare in Hollywood, LA and even gone on to win an international competition - leading to a meeting with execs at Warners Bros & New Line Cinema.

Alongside our narrative filmwork we are passionate about making exciting and engaging promotional videos, social media content, and music videos for our clients. We have worked with high profile institutions such as Alton Towers Resort and The Dungeons to smaller independant businesses like The Scent Corvus. No matter the scale or scope of a project we care deeply about what is at the heart of any client or brand we take on - to ensure the results we deliver are visually striking, captivating through our use of storytelling and exceeds expectations. We eat, sleep and dream all things creative so we can’t wait to work with you!

MEET THE TEAM:

  • LIAM BANKS

    FOUNDER/ WRITER & DIRECTOR

    Liam founded SuperfreakMedia way back in 2009 and has been creating with the team ever since. Raised on the likes of Goosebumps and Buffy he has a deep love for nostalgia and cites his biggest inspirations in the game as John Carpenter, James Wan and Sam Raimi - to name a few…

    Steering the ship he has had his work debut at the TCL Chinese Theatre (LA) , screen on the BBC & even won an international contest leading to a meeting with New Line Execs in 2017.

  • JONATHAN BUTLER (JONNO)

    CINEMATOGRAPHER & PODCAST HOST

    Jonathan is an award winning Cinematographer and Actor, having played a part in our productions both in front and behind the camera. Extremely passionate about the horror genre he has been working with SuperfreakMedia since 2012. Jonno loves creating creepy compositions in his work trying to evoke a sense of atmosphere and dread with his use of lighting techniques and camera movements.

    He also enjoys a long walk on the beach every now and then too…

  • THEO VANN-LEEDS

    CINEMATOGRAPHER

    Theo studied film at The University of Derby whilst working as a Projectionist to fund his studies. He has a passion for creative camerawork and thoughtful editing which bleeds into his work with SuperfreakMedia - officially joining the fold with The Final Girl in 2015.

    He loves cooking, reading graphic novels, being on water and of course watching a great film or series with his wife and best friend Laura. P.S. The Thing is the best (horror) Film ever made!

  • CHARLIE BRENTNALL

    CREATIVE & WRITER

    Charlie began working with SuperfreakMedia in 2020. Having studied Scriptwriting at Master’s level at The University of Derby, Charlie has played a vital role in the creative process behind our more recent films as a scriptwriter and script editor but also in front of the camera in roles as Alison on his first film with Take A Look, Jenny in The River, and Alex in Whistle.


    Although not a huge horror fan, he’s coming around. We’re converting him. Bless his bloody socks.

  • RICHARD PARKER (RICH)

    GRIP & STILLS PHOTOGRAPHER

    Richard began working with SuperfreakMedia back in 2013 helping with test shoots for The Copy-Writer before joining the team officially on set for Chasing Time in 2015. He utilises his love of Photography along with his background in Theatre and Live Events to help us with all things technical. That's why we leave him to deal with the lights!

    His photography work can be found in a lot of our marketing material, posters and more - as well as providing BTS and Production Stills for some of our other friends and collaborators.

  • LIAM VALENTINE

    WRITER & PODCAST HOST

    Liam is a vital part of the Creative Team at SuperfreakMedia. They write monthly posts over on the SuperfreakMedia Blog as well as co hosting the They’re Queer Monthly Horror Podcast with the other Liam. Alongside this they also run a monthly Horror Book Club over on the Superfreak Socials.

    Starting in front of the camera back in 2014 with All Hallow’s Evil - Lurking behind the scenes now, Liam also wrote and published a fantastic story called ‘Sticks & Stones’ as part of the Audio Horror Anthology Series - Campfire Chronicles.
